There are a myriad of lettering classes available on Skillshare.com. I’ve taken several, including Neil Tasker’s Love Your Letters: Communicate Visually with Words and Sean McCabe’s Digitizing Hand Lettering: From Sketch to Vector (Lettering II).
However, Mary Kate McDevitt’s The First Steps of Hand-Lettering is easily the best beginner’s class I’ve taken so far on lettering.
Mary’s class is well-planned, organized, and thoughtful as she takes you through tools you need to start lettering as well as the first steps of hand lettering. What I’ve appreciated throughout this course, is that she not only teaches you the process of how to thoughtfully hand letter something, but she also guides you through some more technical details.
The best part of Mary’s class is that she fully takes you through her process and we are able to watch her sketch and create.
